WTC CERTIFIED CAR ENGIN CONTROL UNIT (ECU) CIRCUIT BOARD REPAIR PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION COURSE

Automotive electronics are electronic systems used in vehicles, including engine management, ignition, radio, carputers, telematics, in-car entertainment systems, and others. Ignition, engine and transmission electronics are also found in trucks, motorcycles, off-road vehicles, and other internal combustion powered machinery such as forklifts, tractors and excavators. Related elements for control of relevant electrical systems are also found on hybrid vehicles and electric cars.

An electronic control unit (ECU), also known as an electronic control module (ECM), is an embedded system in automotive electronics that controls one or more of the electrical systems or subsystems in a car or other motor vehicle.

Modern vehicles have many ECUs, and these can include some or all of the following: engine control module (ECM), powertrain control module (PCM), transmission control module (TCM), brake control module (BCM or EBCM), central control module (CCM), central timing module (CTM), general electronic module (GEM), body control module (BCM), and suspension control module (SCM). These ECUs together are sometimes referred to collectively as the car's computer though technically they are all separate computers, not a single one. Sometimes an assembly incorporates several individual control modules (a PCM often controls both the engine and the transmission).

COURSE OBJECTIVES

After completing the course students able to perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, repair, solder, de-solder components on the Car ECUs.

TOPICS:

I. Knowledge of basic electronic circuit principles and functional building blocks and ability to follow multi page schematics for troubleshooting.
II. Troubleshoot, diagnose and Repair of Analog and Digital Circuit Boards.
III. Solder and Unsolder, Rework skills (Surface Mount Technology and through-hole components).
IV. Electronic assembly, fine-tip, hand soldering touch-up and rework of printed circuit boards using surface mount technology and through-hole components.
V. Color identification.
VI. Perform PCBA rework using soldering tools on fine pitch components.
VII. Perform electronic signal measurements using a variety of test equipment and methods to troubleshoot multilayer PCBA product defects.
VIII. Perform testing sequences on repaired work using detailed work instructions.
IX. Ability to use hot air equipment for multi-lead device repairs.
IX. Finding and fixing electrical short circuits using Thermal Infrared Imager Camera.
X. Evaluation: Bench Test and Quizzes.

Course Details

This course is designed for beginners who wants to properly learn circuit board component diagnostics, troubleshooting, fault tracing, replacement, testing, repairing, and soldering. Restoring broken circuit boards are better than to purchase new ones. Striving to correct the root cause of the issue instead of merely replacing the circuit boards or parts. Hands-on training delivered on industrial, commercial, household HVAC and Electronics Appliance Main Control Boards, Circuit Boards such as Dishwashers, Dryers, Refrigerators, Washing Machines, Furnaces, Containers, Automobiles, Robots etc.
